Well, the bug allowed Siri to read out lock screen notifications from third-party apps, even if you had your message previews turned off and the phone locked.
It looks like Apple has left a huge loophole in iOS that gives practically anyone the access to hidden notifications of anyone's iPhone.
Apple is always quick to come up with fixes for bugs that are highly publicized or those that gain a lot of media attention. The company said in a statement that "We are aware of the issue and it will be addressed in an upcoming software update".
The site did confirm that the bug was present in both iOS 11.2.6 and the latest iOS 11.3 beta.
This means that if you or anyone asks Siri to read your notifications, she will read aloud private messages sent via third-party apps, like Facebook Messenger, Slack or Signal, for everyone to hear.
But the feature has been around for a while, previously allowing users to manually change their settings to hide notification previews.
But a number of websites tested the iPhones, and found that Siri would gladly read out all messages when asked.
While facial scans are secured on the iPhone itself, a host of app developers can gather and store information on "how often users blink, smile, or even raise an eyebrow", according to MacRumors.
Users have the ability to temporarily disable it, albeit at their own inconvenience, by simply turning off "Show Lock Screen" within the Settings and Notifications option.
Regardless, it's probably not something that most users are aware of, and the discovery might be particularly concerning for iPhone X owners.
Thankfully there are some basic settings that can prevent Siri from reading out your personal messages without authentication, but it takes a toll at some of your convenience.
Go to Settings → Siri & Search → ASK SIRI. From what I can tell, as long as they don't show up on the lock screen, Siri will say that you don't have any new notifications and ignore those arriving in the background.

In the meantime, to protect yourself, you can go to Siri's settings page and disabling the "Allow Access When Locked" option. So till this bug is active, Siri can read out all notifications on the iPhone X even without the owner's permission.
