Now the second week is here. The show is as fresh and relevant today as it was when it left the air 21 years ago. They still haven't come to terms with the fact that many Americans really do say they voted for him, as Roseanne Conner did in her show's record-breaking relaunch last week, because "he talked about jobs" and "said he'd shake things up".

The trade publication called the show's performance in the 18- to 49-year-old demographic downright "obscene". Overall, the demo lift is only trailing two telecasts of The Big Bang Theory (+2.3 each), most recently the December 17, 2015 episode of the CBS series.

ABC executives were optimistic about how popular the reboot would be - but the ratings results were astonishing.

So-called 'affluenza teen' Ethan Couch released from prison
At his trial in juvenile court that year, a psychologist testifying on his behalf described Couch as suffering from "affluenza". Ethan Couch was extradited back to the US and later sentenced to 720 days in jail for violating the terms of his probation.

The day after the Roseanne revival premiered to massive ratings, President Donald Trump bragged at a Cleveland rally that the show's success was because "it was about us".

All the attention surrounding the sitcom's return could give it a further boost this week. But they didn't think it would be so popular to begin with, either. In fact, the show displays two characters who some would argue are not welcome in Trump's America; DJ's daughter, whose mother is a black woman now, deployed with the military and a young boy whose gender identity seems to be in question.

The post, which has since been removed, indicated Barr's support for a conspiracy theory that alleges Trump has been quietly going about breaking up child sex rings created by high-ranking Democrats, Newsweek reported.

"Hey, Roseanne, if you are watching, we would love to have you on the show", co-host Steve Doocy said.
