The latest Snapchat Lenses, with a Mardi Gras mask, Day of the Dead face paint along with matching flower headdress and an ornate masquerade eye cover with rose hair ornaments, is going to start rolling out to iPhone X users today. Although they're not the first augmented reality add-ons that Snapchat has included, they do a much better job of molding to the shape of the user's face, and then tracking it as they move.

Snapchat was a key third-party app that Apple highlighted on stage when the iPhone X was first introduced back in September 2017. Are you comfortable with Apple letting app developers have access to the TrueDepth camera to enhance their apps? These are only available on the iPhone X and work with the TrueDepth camera.

The lenses available now makes use of the data from the phone's 2D camera to guess facial features, like eyebrows and mouth.

Unlike traditional Lenses that rely on information from a phone's 2D camera to recognize dominant facial features, like a user's eyebrows and mouth, iPhone X Lenses tap into data produced by TrueDepth. Snapchat's photos and videos of the new lenses suggest that they will tightly stick to your face.

Others worry about their income and safety; if they can't find work on the internet, that means looking for work on the streets. Interestingly, the takedown notice only appeared on backpage.ca, its Canadian site.

So far there are just three lenses that use this new technology, with more likely to appear in the future in the same way regular lenses crop up.

It's worth remembering that, though the TrueDepth camera is used in both this case and for Face ID, there are different layers of security at work. What developers like Snapchat get, meanwhile, is the facial mapping data alone, with more than fifty micro-movements of things like lips, eyelids, and the nose. The filters also react to the light around you and you see accurate light and shadow effects based on your ambient lighting conditions, something the standard lenses don't.

Snapchat users and iPhone X owners now have one more reason to be happy. Since, TrueDepth technology is limited to iPhone X only, the feature is exclusive for the owners of this smartphone. They also automatically blur the background.

The app is available now as a free download in the App Store.
