Facebook's Sandberg says other cases of data misuse possible

Congress' challenge: How to tame industry giant Facebook Facebook's Sandberg says other cases of data misuse possible

Last month, a whistleblower who previously worked for Cambridge Analytica came forward to claim that the British-based firm had used a third-party app to obtain private information from more than 50 million Facebook profiles without the users' knowledge.

"We thought it had been deleted because they gave us assurances, and it wasn't until other people told us it wasn't true but. we had legal assurances from them that they deleted".

Sandberg spoke out during an interview on NBC's Today programme, where she was probed over Facebook's failure to protect user data.

Billionaire Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg is due to testify about the scandal before US Congress next week.

When asked at the start of the interview how seriously she would rate the breach of its users trust, Sandberg said: 'We put it at the top of any scale because we take any breach of trust with users that seriously.

But she was clear that wasn't in the company's plans.

Garcia's Masters title defense ruined by a 13
After taking a penalty drop, Garcia hit a wedge - his fourth shot - past the pin and spun it off the green, back into the water. I feel like it's the first time in my career where I make a 13 without missing a shot. "Simple as that", Garcia said.

"We did not think enough about the abuse cases and now we're taking really firm steps across the board". "A lot of it is politically motivated but even more is economically motivated".

Social experiences provided to Facebook users, like viewing their friends' Facebook playlists, required data sharing, she explained.

"That would be a paid product", Sandberg said.

Had Facebook audited CA's data holdings, Facebook could have prevented the privacy scandal that has derailed the company, Sandberg told Today's Savannah Guthrie.

After Sandberg's comments, part of which aired Thursday, Facebook clarified that it does not have an ad-free option that would require payment, and that Sandberg was speaking hypothetically, NBC News reported. And for everyone to be able to afford a service, you need to have something akin to its data-obsessed platform. "People want to write outlandish headlines so you click so they make money". She said in the NBC interview that the investigation continues into what went wrong.

I don't think at all that that means that we don't care about people. "Because that sounds ridiculous to me".
