Nudists visited a Paris art gallery for the first time Saturday and perused its exhibitions completely au naturel, the BBC reports.

The exhibition was open to naturist during special visiting hours and the event sold out in less than two days.

Members of the ANC (Affiliation des Naturistes de Paris) collaborating in a nude go to of the "Discorde, Fille de la Nuit" season exhibition on the Palais de Tokyo modern artwork centre in Paris.

161 art lovers left their clothes in the cloakroom for the one-off event, before the gallery was opened to clothed guests later in the day. The naked session was held before the gallery opened to the public. The Paris Naturist Association hailed the idea as a breakthrough.

"The naturists' way of life is to be naked. Culture is part of our daily life, and this is a special opportunity", communications director with the Paris Naturists Association, Julien Claude-Penegry, told the news agency commenting on the museum's initiative.

A park in the east of Paris, the Bois de Vincennes, previous year trialled the city's first dedicated nudist zone, and the space recently re-opened ahead of the summer months.

Next in store is a nudist clubbing night planned for later this year.
