The announcement at a robotics event in Berkeley did not say anything about the price tag.

The creators of the SpotMini - the four-legged (and zero-headed) robot that is gaining global fame for its increasingly sophisticated skills - are ready to make them commercially available. It's unclear who will be able to buy them and for how much.

"SpotMini is in pre-production now", Raibert said.

The robot, described as "the world's most dynamic humanoid" on the Boston Dynamics website, runs at a slow-but-steady pace over grass, up a slight incline and then stops in front of a log. Atlas steadies himself, bends his "knees", raises his "arms" and nimbly hops over the log, landing without a wobble. "We've built 10 units [of] a design that's close to [what] a manufacture will design". Last year, it was revamped and can now walk by itself using autonomous navigation.

Trump may also have been emboldened to act more punitively against Iran because it lacks North Korea's powerful intermediaries. Trump, surrounded by journalists and cameras earlier on Thursday also teased the "highly anticipated meeting".

Robotics company Boston Dynamics has released countless videos which reveal just how far along it has come with its technological advancements since its early days.

Boston Dynamics CEO Marc Raibert said that the company is planning on making its dog-like SpotMini robots ready for purchase next year. Although its movements are not so smooth or elegant, a robot navigating across an uneven terrain, like humans is still quite impressive.

In another new video, the Humanoid Atlas robot - which is almost five feet tall - is seen jogging outside on grass and jumping over a log. The videos it has released of the SpotMini have shown the robot navigating around an office on its own, opening a door for a second SpotMini robot, and even resisting interference by a human.

Boston Dynamics was bought from Google's parent company, Alphabet, by Japanese firm SoftBank in August previous year, but it looks as though developments are surging ahead.
