The Falcon 9 Block 5 carried Bangladesh's first geostationary communications satellite toward orbit on Friday.

SpaceX was able to proceed with the rescheduled launch though, allowing the Falcon 9 Block 5 rocket to deliver its cargo to space and return to Earth.

As the Inquisitr previously reported, the "Block 5" is capable of performing 10 or more times without being refurbished between launch and landing.

Shortly before the second stage separation, the first stage executed a controlled landing back on SpaceX's drone ship in the Atlantic, the company's 25th recovered first stage. NASA takes seven successful flights until the brand new enemy receives last certification for a manned mission.

The launch was postponed at the last minute Thursday, when an automatic abort switch was triggered, but SpaceX said it was just a glitch and the spacecraft remained in good health. SpaceX tweeted a photo of the Falcon 9 as the rocket's first and second stage parted ways. If things happen as planned, it will be the first time that a rocket will carry people to space since the end of the United States space shuttle program in 2011. This goal will be reached sometime next year, as Musk said that he expects the rocket to have flown at least 10 times by the end of 2019. A delegation of Bangladeshi officials, led by State Minister for Telecommunications and Post, Tarana Halim, arrived in Florida on Tuesday to witness the successful launch.

SpaceX is one of two private companies hired by NASA to ferry astronaut crews to the space station.

The first crew launch for SpaceX is tentatively planned for December 2018. These upgrades provide the rocket with about 8 percent and 5 percent more thrust, respectively, compared to the "Block 4". "It is an important step forward in the country's digital advancement", the embassy said in a statement on Sunday.

He said it would take another 11 days for the satellite, built by European aerospace company Thales Alenia Space, to settle into its orbital slot.

In a televised message on Saturday, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said: "The Bangabandhu Satellite-1 will be a great addition to our information technology, heralding our entry into the satellite club of the world".

The satellite will offer Ku-band coverage over Bangladesh and its territorial waters in the Bay of Bengal, India, Nepal, Bhutan, Sri Lanka, the Philippines, and Indonesia.
