More thunderstorms headed North India's way Fresh thunderstorms hit Delhi, may hit north, eastern regions till Friday

Days after a thunderstorm and dust storms hit Delhi-NCR, a powerful dust storm accompanied with rain and squall hit Delhi-NCR on Wednesday morning. The storm struck the national capital and nearby regions around 3 AM on May 16. Now reports are coming that more than 80 people have died because of this thunderstorm or lightning strikes attacks in five states since last Sunday. However, Wednesday will see a maximum temperature of 40 degrees and the minimum of 25 degrees Celsius.

At several places in north India including Delhi, high-velocity winds uprooted trees and affected road, rail and air services. In several areas, electricity poles were uprooted leaving resident without electricity. Reports of disruptions in power supply were received from parts of Faridabad, Gurgaon, Karol Bagh among others.

Over the past week, thunderstorms and dust storms have wreaked havoc across northern and eastern parts of the country, with the number of casualties estimated between 80 and 100 across Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, West Bengal, Andhra Pradesh and Delhi-NCR region.
