The movie has also been rumored to have major problems, with industry insiders even stating it's not any good.

Solo: A Star Wars Story doesn't hit theatres until next Thursday, and the film's had a rough ride, with Ron Howard stepping in to direct at the last minute after the axing of Phil Lord and Chris Miller, and plenty of criticism aimed at its trailers and the film's star, Alden Ehrenreich. The big fear with this romantic subplot is that it would be the one trite driving reason why Han Solo became who he is, but instead Qi'ra's actions serve to illustrate the cutthroat nature of the Star Wars world. It adds depth to the character that is worth exploring more in hopefully another Solo sequel or even a Lando standalone movie. And Ehrenreich knows just how to play him - with a sense of wide-eyed optimism slowly being eroded away by reality. This is particularly true in the third act of the movie.

Let's take a look at the differences between the fan response and those who get paid to review films on Rotten Tomatoes - specifically Star Wars live-action movies in this case. The conclusion of the movie is stale, filled with cliches, and tries too hard to set the foundation for future "Solo" movies by featuring one of the most random cameos you'll ever see in a movie (more on that in a sec, but don't worry, no spoilers). The worst piece is the use of the words "mean streets" in describing the planet Solo grew up on.

Han Solo opens May 25. From changing directors to reshooting 70% of the movie.

Young's photography goes from smoky original "Blade Runner" vibe in the beginning to wide epic shots by the end. Glover somehow perfectly captures the speech patterns, swagger, and style of Billy Dee Williams. When "Solo" manages to come to crackling life, it's thanks to a droid called L3-37, voiced with irrepressible wit and gusto by the brilliant British screenwriter Phoebe Waller-Bridge. While there has not been any confirmation yet, he says he already knows where the character will be headed.

Total Film reckons that it's "far better than we had any right to expect".

There's a terrific ensemble cast-dynamic and an effortless channelling of the spirit of Episodes IV to VI from father-and-son screenwriting team Lawrence and Jonathan Kasdan who should really be allowed to get their teeth into the stories' daddy issues and Freudian anxieties.

In terms of new characters, the key figures are Qi'ra ("Game of Thrones'" Emilia Clarke), the girl in Han's life, and his motivation for much of what ensues; and Beckett (Woody Harrelson), a smuggler/thief whose anything-for-a-buck mentality will play a role in forging - and defining the contours of - Han's own moral code. And, so we were able to make this movie at a pace but, once he began to see the possibilities for scenes and ideas.

Star Wars: Attack of the Clones (2002) - Fan Score: 57 percent.

"A flawed yet fun and fast-paced space adventure, Solo: A Star Wars Story should satisfy newcomers to the saga as well as longtime fans who check their expectations at the theater door".

"Solo: A Star Wars Story" is the first entry in the "Star Wars" saga to focus entirely on character over effect, and while that does lower the stakes a significant amount, it also allows for the movie to have a whole lot of fun with itself in a way that feels consistent with its overall tone.
