Union charges that Elon Musk violated labor law with tweet

In a tweetstorm that could at times be mistaken for the work of a troll who had hijacked his account, Tesla CEO Elon Musk unleashed a stream of criticism at his detractors, mostly in the media, amid promises to resurrect a Verrit-style rating site named after the longtime Soviet newspaper of record Pravda, which means "truth" in Russian.

Predictably, Musk's tweet was met by a chorus of whiney knee-jerk reactions from so-called "journalists", including The Verge's Andrew J. Hawkins. The public no longer respects the media because of "holier-than-thou hypocrisy" and lies, he said.

Furious over the bad press his electric vehicle manufacturing plant has received, Tesla CEO Elon Musk on Wednesday night threatened to start a Yelp-like service for people to rate journalists and editors on credibility.

"Problem is", he said, "journos are under constant pressure to get max clicks & earn advertising dollars or get fired".

'Tricky situation, as Tesla doesn't advertise, but fossil fuel companies & gas/diesel auto companies are among world's biggest advertisers'.

Tesla in a statement said Musk's comment simply recognised that other automakers whose workers are represented by the UAW do not provide stock options.

Attorney's office in Manhattan are, meanwhile, conducting a separate investigation into financial and business dealings by Cohen. Trump's inaugural committee secured him tickets to an inaugural dinner, and Vekselberg attended the dinner with him.

Musk said that he is thinking of a site where "the public can rate the core truth" of news stories, as well as track "the credibility score" of journalists and publications.

On Wednesday afternoon, he shared with his almost 22 million followers a tweet linking to posts on the auto blog Electrek criticizing recent coverage of fatal Tesla crashes.

In August, based on a separate UAW complaint, the NLRB found that Tesla had violated workers' rights by requiring them to sign a confidentiality agreement that could bar them from talking about their working conditions and safety issues at the California plant. Is it just another Musk prank, or is he actually serious about the idea?

The CEO criticised analysts on Tesla's most recent earnings call for asking "bonehead" questions and proceeded to take 23 minutes worth of questions from a 25-year-old owner of a millennial-focused YouTube channel.

A series of fiery Tesla auto crashes and executive departures have also anxious investors.
