"Please tell Prime Minister Trudeau and President Macron that they are charging the U.S. massive tariffs and create non-monetary barriers", he tweeted.

Macron echoed that comment in a joint press conference with Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau. "G-7 sherpa and deputy assistant to the president for global economic affairs Everett Eissenstat will represent the United States for the remaining G-7 sessions", White House Press Secretary SarahSanders said in a statement.

At the summit in Charlevoix, Quebec, Trump will hold bilateral meetings with Macron and Trudeau, in addition to attending working sessions with all of the G-7 leaders. They had a brief, cordial exchange at the summit site overlooking the St. Lawrence River.

Mr Trudeau has described the USA claim that the tariff decision was taken on national security grounds as "insulting".

The tone in the immediate run-up to the meetings at La Malbaie showed no sign of compromise between a USA president determined to disrupt the status quo to force more favourable terms for the United States, and six U.S. allies resolved to stop him. Invoking his former rival Hillary Clinton, Trump touted how tough he is on Putin: "I have been Russia's worst nightmare".

The "American president" doesn't seem to "mind being isolated", Macron tweeted Thursday. "If you look at what Canada, Mexico, the European Union, all of them have been doing to us for many, many decades, we have to change it".

Mr. Trump showed no sign of backing down on Thursday, first taking to Twitter to accuse both France and Canada of imposing massive tariffs on US goods and then accusing Mr. Trudeau of "being so indignant". It is been reported that, in a phone call between the two leaders, Mr Trump wrongly accused Canada of "burning down the White House in 1812" as partial justification. Italian Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte agrees with US President Donald Trump's idea to bring Russian Federation back to the Group of Eight (G8), as he himself wrote on Twitter on Friday.

On this week's show, Chris Pratt, Bryce Dallas Howard and JEFF "FRICKIN" GOLDBLUM chat all things Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom. The film is described as a sprawling, interweaved Pulp Fiction-esque story, set in 1969 Los Angeles.

Media reports of late have suggested Trump will be a reluctant visitor to Canada, given the summit's proximity on the schedule to next week's meeting with the North Korean leader.

"We continue to see strong CEO plans in the second quarter of 2018, but uncertainties about trade policy are a growing weight on economic progress - especially amid escalating trade tensions", Bolten said in a release.

But since coming to office in January 2017, Trump has pulled the U.S. out of the Paris climate accord, the Iran nuclear deal and the TPP Pacific free trade deal.

"Looking forward to straightening out unfair Trade Deals with the G7 countries", Trump tweeted.

The move led Canada and the E.U.to impose retaliatory measures.

And he promised a "frank and direct discussion" with Trump in Canada.

Trump took to Twitter later in the evening to blast Trudeau on a range of issue tied to the ongoing trade differences between the two countries, including Trump's imposition of punishing steel and aluminum tariffs and the unresolved North American Free Trade Agreement talks.
