Donald Trump "probably" on board with bipartisan pot bill

Senators announce bill to protect states' ability to make marijuana laws Senate votes to pass recreational legalization of pot, bill now goes back to House of Commons

In April, President Trump and Gardner reached a deal in which the president promised to support a bill to protect states' right to choose whether to legalize marijuana within their borders in exchange for Gardner lifting his embargo.

Sessions's hard-line approach to marijuana has put him at odds with members of his own party, and as the midterms approach, polls show that 70 percent of voters oppose the enforcement of federal prohibition in legalized states, so the legislation could very well find its way to the president's desk. They also included amendments that the House of Commons will need to compromise on before the law can be passed though.

New Hampshire has a commission charged with studying marijuana legalization, regulation, and taxation. It also amends federal law to explicitly remove industrial hemp from the definition of marijuana. In Massachusetts, retail pot shops are scheduled to open July 1. The law authorizes licensed marijuana businesses to sell marijuana and marijuana products, and also allows online sales (which will be handled similarly to how the country now allows online medical marijuana sales).

While running for president, Trump repeatedly said that he believed marijuana legalization should be up to states.

MA U.S. Sen. Elizabeth Warren joined a Colorado Republican on Thursday to roll out federal legislation that would resolve much of the tension between the federal prohibition on marijuana and the growing pot industries in states that have voted to legalize marijuana.

For the Rockets to get James, they would have to get very creative with some trades to unload players for cap space. Paul, meanwhile, will be an unrestricted free agent following his first season with the Houston Rockets.

One of the lead sponsors is Sen. Canadian lawmakers are especially concerned with battling the illegal sales of marijuana, and will be closely monitoring the black market sales of the plant. "We're looking at it, but I probably will end up supporting that, yes".

The bill would exempt states that have legalized marijuana from the section of the Controlled Substances Act that prohibits cannabis use and lists the drug as a unsafe substance with no medical value.

"Thanks to the Attorney General, more people feel the urgency of the moment in changing federal law on marijuana", Warren said.

"It's time we take this industry out of the shadows and take these dollars out of the shadows", Gardner said at the press conference announcing the STATES Act.

The many amendments added by the senate - and which will now be considered by MPs - reflect some of this opposition, such as tighter restrictions on advertising by cannabis companies and allowing provinces to prohibit home cultivation.
