Trump, Trudeau exchange trade barbs at G-7

America Alone? Communique at G-7 released after Trump says U.S. won't endorse it

He contrasted Trudeau's behavior during the meetings, which he characterized as "so meek and mild" with him calling the tariffs "kind of insulting" and saying Canada "will not be pushed around" after the president left.

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau announced he told President Trump he will go through retaliatory tariffs after Mr. Trump's decision not to exempt allies such as Canada from tariffs on steel and aluminum imports.

The Prime Minister said the United Kingdom still wanted to discuss a post-Brexit trade deal with the U.S. and said Mr Trump was still looking forward to July's visit to Britain.

He said USA farmers had been harmed by tariffs and other barriers and warned that US trading partners would need to provide him with more favorable terms.

"I highlighted directly to the president that Canadians did not take it lightly that the United States has moved forward with significant tariffs", said Trudeau.

"I think the G8 would be better, I think having Russian Federation back in would be a positive thing".

Trudeau also took a jab at President Trump, who arrived late for a gender equality meeting.

On the state of global trade: "From the standpoint of trade and jobs and being fair to companies, we are really, I think, committed". "I don't blame other leaders for that, I blame our past leaders".

The leaders of the G7, the world's most powerful industrialized countries including Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Britain, Japan and the United States, meet every year to discuss collaboration on issues like world economy, climate change, security and peace. Macron said Thursday on Twitter, "The American President may not mind being isolated, but neither do we mind signing a 6 country agreement if need be".

Last year, Tyson recalled about 2.5 million pounds of ready-to-eat breaded chicken "due to misbranding and undeclared allergens". The product was shipped to food service establishments across the country and is not available for purchase in retail stores.

The G7 summit, held in La Malbaie, Quebec province, also covered such issues as relations with Russian Federation. Before leaving Washington, Mr Trump had said that Russian Federation should be readmitted to the group that had excluded it in 2014 after its invasion of eastern Ukraine and annexation of Crimea.

"When I am telling them, they are smiling at me".

As they departed it became clear that many are still searching for ways to deal with the unpredictable United States leader.

Trump fired off a pair of tweets several hours after leaving the summit in Canada to fly to Singapore for another on North Korea.

Though the G-7 managed to reach an agreement basic principles regarding trade, relations between with the United States and the other members, particularly Canada, remained strained.

Donald Trump accused the summit's chairman Justin Trudeau of dishonesty.

Trump is not the first politician to make the realpolitik argument that Russian Federation belongs at the G7 table, but his position is a complete turnabout from the Obama Administration, which condemned the 2014 annexation and imposed sanctions on Russian Federation as punishment.

"I wasn't sure - he said it so beautifully".

When a reporter asked the president about Crimea he responded: "You have to ask President Obama, he was the one who let Crimea get away".
