Donald Trump's trade adviser has labelled Canadian premier Justin Trudeau a back-stabber unworthy of the U.S. president's time after the acrimonious end to the G7 summit.

The motion calls on the House to recognize the importance of Canada's "long-standing, mutually beneficial trading relationship" with the US, "strongly oppose" the "illegitimate tariffs" imposed on steel and aluminum, stand "in solidarity" with the Trudeau government's decision to impose retaliatory tariffs and remain united in support of the supply management system of regulating Canada's dairy and poultry industry.

"And frankly I think that's out of line", Hatch said, adding that Trump's visit to Quebec for the G-7 meeting "could have been handled a lot better".

Trudeau is not Trump's only target in the growing trade war with the other members of the G7, which is made up of Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, and the UK.

Trump has consistently said that countries that have a trade surplus with the United States - meaning they export more to the USA than they import - are "taking advantage" of the US. "You can't do that". Navarro also said Trump attending the G7 in Canada was a "courtesy" to Trudeau and that the President had "bigger things on his plate" in Singapore.

"I see the television and he's giving a news conference about how he "will not be pushed around" by the United States". I say, push them around? We just shook hands.

"It's very unfair to our farmers, and it's very unfair to the people of our country", Trump said Tuesday in Singapore.

Earlier, the White House escalated the initial tirade and levelled more withering and unprecedented criticism against Mr Trudeau, branding him a back-stabber unworthy of Mr Trump's time. He said Trudeau's promise to follow through with tariffs on USA goods - a response to Trump's own tariffs on steel and aluminum imports from Canada, Mexico, and the European Union - would hurt the Canadian economy.

Heyman waged a campaign on Twitter to persuade Navarro to apologize by saying he was contacting USA politicians about his remarks. "The problem was that in conveying that message I used language that was inappropriate".

When asked about Trump's remarks in Parliament on Tuesday, Trudeau said he supports Trump's efforts on North Korea and looks forward to the details of that agreement. "On his comments, I am going to stay focused on defending jobs for Canadians and supporting Canadian interests".

And Roland Paris, a former foreign policy adviser to Trudeau, jabbed at Trump on Twitter: "Big tough guy once he's back on his airplane".

Trump also discussed a viral photo from the G-7 that showed German Chancellor Angela Merkel and other world leaders on one side of a table with Trump, arms folded, on the other.

Trump refused to sign a joint agreement with US allies at the end of the summit and threatened to cut off trade with them unless deals were renegotiated. "It was very friendly".
