Just days ago, a nine-year-old girl was admitted into rehab after playing Fortnitefor so long that she wet herself. Apparently, ever since she got the Xbox, Carol's grades began to drop and had trouble staying awake during classes.

Hit her father in the face when he tried to confiscate her Xbox gaming console.

The girl's mother told the Sunday People newspaper: "We had no idea, when we let her play the game, of the addictive nature or the impact it could have on her mental health". "My husband saw her light on in the night and found her sitting on a urine-soaked cushion playing the game", Carol said.

One headteacher, Jemma Garside, who runs a primary school in Stoke-on-Trent, Staffordshire, sent an email to parents where she wrote: "Unfortunately discussions around this game are being brought. into the classroom which is distracting children from their learning".

According to a report from The Mirror, everything seemed normal when the girl's parents purchased her an Xbox One for Christmas of a year ago. "We got called in by her head teacher asking if everything was okay".

Once a keen sportswoman, the youngster starting saying she was too exhausted to do gym or ballet classes and avoided going to church on Sunday with her family.

One of the breaking points for the family reportedly came after the parents noticed that multiple charges were accumulating on their credit card. A couple from the United Kingdom sent their 9-year-old daughter to rehab after she became addicted to "Fortnite".

In a mocking tone, Kudlow rattled off the reasons Trudeau offered for his barbed critique of Trump's policies. Trudeau had said after Trump's exit that Canada would retaliate against USA tariffs.

Although the game is free to play, developers have raked in cash from in-game purchases as players try to boost their performance. The girl preferred to wet herself rather than leave the game and go to the bathroom.

"Over the last two months I've been contacted by dozens of parents with children as young as eight showing signs of addiction to Fortnite", Steve Pope, the therapist working with the young girl, told The Mirror.

"I urge every parent out there to know what this game can do, how it sucks young children in and could ruin lives", the girl's mother said.

But experts fear many children are at risk of developing mental health problems as a result of over-exposure to violent and addictive video games.

The multiplayer shooting game's most popular format sees 100 people jump out of a plane to land on an island and fight until only one is left.

And professional gamers are making up to £500,000 (NZ$953,000) a month from live-streaming their matches for addicted children to watch.

Video game addiction is a serious issue.
