Browbeaten? On Twitter, Justin Trudeau's 'Fake Eyebrows' Trumps US Tirade

After a relatively amicable summit with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un, US President Donald Trump again fanned the flames of his growing war of words with Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.

"I want to pay a particular tribute to Prime Minister Trudeau for his leadership and skilful chairing, which enabled us after two days of negotiation between leaders to agree actions and a shared approach on some of the most pressing challenges facing the worldwide community and our citizens", she told parliament.

In an extraordinary interview with CNN's State of the Union on Sunday, Larry Kudlow, who was present for negotiations at the G7 summit in Quebec over the weekend, said Trudeau had instigated "a betrayal" and was "essentially double-crossing President Trump".

"He was polarizing. Here's the thing".

Trudeau had told reporters that Trump's decision to invoke national security to justify United States tariffs on steel and aluminum imports was "kind of insulting" to Canadian veterans who had stood by their U.S. allies in conflicts dating back to World War I. "You know, it's like the gig is up".

"He did a great disservice to the whole G7".

In a mocking tone, Kudlow rattled off the reasons Trudeau offered for his barbed critique of Trump's policies.

Canada in particular has been outraged by Trump's tariffs, taking umbrage at the argument that they were motivated by national security concerns. The president of the US National Pork Producers Council, Mr Jim Heimerl, said Mexico accounted for almost 25 per cent of all pork shipments past year, adding that "a 20 per cent tariff eliminates our ability to compete effectively in Mexico". "They have tariffs on certain dairy and food products - 290 [to] 295 percent".

Immediately after his remarks Saturday, Trump blasted Trudeau's statement as "dishonest & weak" on Twitter and announced the U.S. would not be signing the joint G7 communique - a symbolic but unprecedented move.

Trudeau had said after Trump's exit that Canada would retaliate against USA tariffs.

The spat drew in Germany and France, who sharply criticized Trump's decision to abruptly withdraw his support for a Group of Seven communique hammered out at a Canadian summit on Saturday, accusing him of destroying trust and acting inconsistently.

"That's what bad-faith Justin Trudeau did with that stunt press conference", Navarro said.

In a series of tweets from Singapore Monday, Trump kept up the tirade while contending that "Fair Trade is now to be called Fool Trade if it is not Reciprocal".

"Why should I, as President of the United States, allow countries to continue to make massive trade surpluses, as they have for decades, while our farmers, workers and taxpayers have such a big and unfair price to pay?"

All lawmakers gave a standing ovation for the government's response to the Trump administration's verbal attacks on Trudeau.

"He (Trump) is not going to permit any show of weakness on the trip to negotiate with North Korea", Kudlow said.
