Roger Federer hails Nadal's French Open achievement

Throw in three titles at the U.S. Open, two at Wimbledon and one at the Australian Open, and Nadal is up to 17 majors, second among men only to Roger Federer's 20.

World number one Rafael Nadal beats Dominic Thiem 6-4 6-3 6-2 to lift the French Open title for an 11th time. I had a long and mentally tough clay court season, of course, because I played nearly all the matches possible after coming from an injury. "I think he is really good".

As Rafael Nadal celebrated lifting the French Open trophy for the 11th time, the Spaniard admitted that even he is surprised to be winning Grand Slam titles at the age of 32.

Nadal, who also won the titles in Monte Carlo, Barcelona and Rome this year, is entered for the Queen's Club warm-up tournament starting next week but says he will consult with his team, including coach Carlos Moya, over the next few days.

Federer, 36, skipped the clay-court season for the second successive year, but will return for the grass-court season which culminates at Wimbledon next month. Nadal's uncle and longtime former traveling coach Toni - who returned to watch his nephew Sunday - said essentially that only time will tell whether Federer can be caught.

"I have never been insane about this kind of stuff", said Nadal. You can't live with this feeling. You have to do your way. Serena and Venus Williams have been the most popular players in some tournaments, and the women's final at the US Open drew more viewers than the men's final each year from 2010-2014.

In a rare show of emotion, Nadal looked close to tears as he collected the Coupe des Mousquetaires again after beating Austrian Thiem.

- Turned professional in 2001 and won the junior Davis Cup with Spain in 2002. Whether it was at the Masters tournaments in Monte Carlo, Madrid, or Rome-whether it was his home tournament in Barcelona-Nadal nearly never lost on the Spaniard.

"But it's been an honour and we will make a decision in the coming months about whether or not we will be back next year".

Russian MP warns against sex with foreigners during World Cup
Unsurprisingly this lawmaker has made similarly prudish comments before, once criticizing the crop top of a local journalist. Pletneva previously criticised the #MeToo campaign against sexual harassment, tentatively spreading in Russian Federation .

"It is incredible. I am very happy".

"I mean, it's a big goal for me to play, soon, another Slam final, " Thiem said.

"What you did and what you are doing is the most outstanding thing an athlete can achieve in sport", the 24-year-old said.

That was about as disheartening as it got for the world number one.

"Well, for me it's hard to explain because it becomes a little bit natural, no?"

Before her loss to Halep, Stephens, 25, eliminated Madison Keys, 23, in the first all-American semifinal at the French Open since 2002, when Williams defeated Jennifer Capriati.

Thiem lost to Nadal in the second round on his Roland Garros debut in 2014, then again in last year's semi-finals.

Nadal has now won three Grand Slam titles since turning 30 and only three men, Federer, Rod Laver and Ken Rosewall, who handed over the Coupe des Mousquetaires trophy on Sunday, have managed more, having done it four times. He is a good friend, one of these players that the tour needs.
