He says he'll introduce legislation to make clear that the US does "not tolerate discrimination based on religion or nationality".

The third version of Trump's travel ban barred almost all travelers from five mainly Muslim countries, namely Iran, Libya, Somalia, Syria and Yemen. This is the third iteration of the ban, and restricts travelers from Iran, North Korea, Syria, Libya, Yemen, Somalia and Venezuela from entering the United States to different degrees. A sixth Muslim-majority nation, Chad, also was included in the ban before the Trump administration removed it from the list.

People protesting against the Muslim travel ban outside the US Supreme Court in Washington, DC, on Tuesday.

Dawud Walid, executive director of the Council on American Islamic Relations' Michigan chapter, calls the travel ban cruel for keeping families apart - much like Trump's recently rescinded policy of separating immigrant parents and children at the U.S. -Mexico border.

In response to the decision, Trump said in a statement: "Today's Supreme Court ruling is a tremendous victory for the American People and the Constitution".

Russia Shocks Spain in World Cup Knockoutq
Both the teams were tied at 1-1 after extra time and it took a heroic effort from Akinfeev to clinch the encounter for the hosts. However, Russia got a penalty five minutes before the break with Gerard Piquè penalised for a raised arm.

The court considered Trump's campaign statements and tweets to weigh whether the ban was, as challengers claimed, a move to ban Muslims under the guise of national security. The initial order, signed one week after he took office in January previous year, led to days of nationwide protests and chaos at airports across the country. "We were absolutely mortified to see such an atrocious decision made by the highest of the courts", said Central Florida's Council on American-Islamic Relations spokesperson Rasha Mubarak.

He added: "Now that the Court has upheld it, it is up to Congress to do its job and reverse President Trump's unilateral and unwise travel ban".

In a dissent, Justice Sonia Sotomayor said judging the case by the facts "a reasonable observer would conclude that the Proclamation was motivated by anti-Muslim animus".

But Sumaiya Ahmed Sheiah, executive director of the Michigan Muslim Community Council, said the ruling makes a mockery of freedom of religion.

HORSLEY: That's right. What John Roberts said was is the issue before us is not whether to denounce those statements by the president but the significance of those statements in reviewing a presidential directive that he called neutral on its face.
