A New Jersey woman who depended on an oxygen tank to breathe, died after the power company cut off her electricity because of an overdue bill, reports ABC7.

At 10am on Thursday, Linda Daniels' oxygen tank stopped; by 4:30pm, she had drawn her last breath. "It was unbearable", she said.

The diagnosis for Linda Daniels was not good.

"We were getting ice and putting ice on her, fanning her, trying to make it cool, but we couldn't pump the oxygen", said her daughter, Desiree Washington. "We extend our honest condolences to her family", Karen A. Johnson said. Paramedics eventually arrived at the home with another portable unit for the 68-year-old, all while the family were calling PSEG to get them to turn the power back on. Power to the home was restored on that same day.

Desiree also said, as required, her mom's medical equipment was registered with the utility company. We asked them, "Why are you turning off her electric at the pole?"'

PSE&G told The Associated Press that it cut the power off due to a lack of payments over the course of several months.

News 12 New Jersey reported that Daniels had been in hospice care since mid-April with congestive heart failure.

You can never tell who is going to be on a good day or not, but all in all it worked out well for us. The Tour remains in western France for Stage 3 on Monday with its first team time trial since 2015.

Daniels' granddaughter Armiya Daniels said it was hard watching her grandmother suffer before her death.

They provided NJ Advance Media with a statement showing $500 was paid to PSE&G on July 3 - two days before the electric was turned off for nonpayment.

Namiotka said the family had not notified the utility company about medical issues until after the service had been disconnected. They told us they would be rolling a truck.

"Dangerous and unnecessary shut offs in the sweltering heat and frigid cold disproportionately impact low-income [families], the elderly and communities of color", NAACP President and CEO Cornell William Brooks said when the association's report was released past year. "My mother was a taxpayer for 46 years". "We want to ensure it doesn't happen again, and we can not have our senior population in jeopardy like that".

PSE&G said in a statement to CNN that they were "saddened to hear that Ms. Daniels passed away" and that they tried at least 15 times to contact the family about their bill over the past seven months.

As Newark Police investigate the matter, Desiree said she may sue, but for now she's focused on funeral preparations and she and her family begin the process of saying goodbye to their beloved mother on Wednesday.
