But the victory was marred with a controversy after the match as Glenn Maxwell didn't shake hands with the opposition captain Sarfraz Ahmed and the former has been criticised a lot for the same.

"It was a genuine oversight on my behalf and I'm now looking for Sarfraz in the hotel to shake his hand and congratulate him and his team on their series win", Maxwell added. The players of both the teams gave an unbelievable performance.

Viewers from around the world were quick to point out Maxwell's supposed snub on social media, and there were also widespread rumours that Sarfarez told Maxwell to "f*** off' in the exchange".

Maxwell later took to Twitter to clarify the incident, saying it was an "oversight" on his behalf.

Footage emerged on social media of Maxwell ignoring the outstretched hand of Ahmed before moving on to shake the hand of one of his teammates and the umpires, with fans labelling it "classless", "terrible behaviour" and "zero sportsmanship". He congratulated Pakistan on winning the game and said that he was looking for Sarfraz to shake hands.

"Congrats to Pakistan on their win yesterday", his photo tweet read.

"In regards to the incident shown post-match, it appears unsportsmanlike, and certainly not the way I play a game". Batting first, Australia posted a challenging 183 for 8.

Earlier, recalled opening batsman D'Arcy Short responded from being dropped for the final group game by hitting 76 from 53 balls to boost Australia's innings.

In reply, Pakistan were off to a disastrous start.

After Maxwell claimed two wickets in his first over reducing Pakistan to 2/2, Sarfraz teamed up with Fakhar Zaman to take their side to a position of command.

It wasn't all smooth sailing for Pakistan on Sunday as Zaman lost his opening partner Sahibzada Farhan, who was stumped off a wide on his first ball in worldwide cricket.
