Miami Beach police say 46-year-old Jonathan Crenshaw grabbed a pair of scissors with his feet and stabbed 22-year-old Cesar Coronado just after midnight early Tuesday.

Crenshaw has an extensive criminal past, including battery of law enforcement officers, according to the Miami Beach Police Department.

In a freakish incident, a 46-year-old homeless was arrested for stabbing a tourist with a pair of scissors using his feet. Crenshaw, who is being held at Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center in Miami, told the police that he acted in self-defense. He said he then pulled out a pair of scissors with his feet and stabbed the victim before putting the scissors in his waistband and leaving the area, authorities said.

Crenshaw's arrest record dates to 2008 and lists arrests for disorderly intoxication, vandalism, and battery on police officers, firefighters and city code inspectors. He and a female friend who was present said Mr Coronado asked Mr Crenshaw for directions and was attacked, police said.
