Scientists were able to capture the moment when a huge iceberg breaks away from glacier in East Greenland.

Perhaps the most drastic and devastating effect of the sea level rise is that according to experts and satellite surveillance there are many more fractures and breaks going on not only in Greenland but in Antarctica as well, and this is completely certain when these glaciers are looked down from space.

Denise Holland, from New York University, filmed the fragmenting Helheim Glacier on June 22, while researching the causes of rising sea levels around the world.

A massive iceberg that was part of a Greenland glacier has collapsed, leading to increased exposure of glacier ice to the ocean. - "Catching as it unfolds, we can see its value".

The research team is now studying the forces behind sea-level rise - a development that has concerned scientists in recent decades because it points to the possibility of global disruptions due to climate change - under a grant from the National Science Foundation.

Senator deletes tweet after revealing Meghan Markle broke this royal rule
Harry leaned in to say hello to Dylan Mahon, who grabbed the smiling prince's beard, as Meghan covered her mouth laughing. After the visit, Harry and Meghan made their way to Trinity College in Dublin, where they saw the historic Book of Kells.

The scientists involved in the study estimate that the iceberg, which has now been let loose, would stretch out over a large swathe of New York City.

So far, the Thwaites Glacier has accounted for approximately 4% of global sea-level rise, an amount that has doubled since the mid-1990s.

News of rising sea levels and temperatures have become so common in headlines and reports, it is possible that the general public is becoming desensitised to it all.

A team of scientists led by David Holland, a professor at NYU's Courant Institute of Mathematics and NYU Abu Dhabi, shot the video. The camera angle then shifts to show movement further down the fjord, where one tabular iceberg crashes into a second, causing the first to split into two and flip over. The calving event, captured in stunning footage by a team of researchers on site, spurred several other tall icebergs to separate as well, with some even flipping over entirely. The research is centered on the Thwaites Glacier.

Understanding how calving events take place is, the researchers say, important for developing simulations for sea-level rise brought about by climate change.
