Trump's trip coincides with a tumultuous week for May when two senior ministers resigned in protest at her plans for trade with the European Union after Britain leaves next March.

Last month, Labour member of Parliament Gavin Shuker ran down a list of objections to Trump: the separation of migrant families and detention of children; the US departure from the United Nations' Human Rights Council; the USA president's praise for North Korean leader Kim Jong Un.

Mr Trump is hardly likely to catch a glimpse of the six metre giant orange inflatable blimp that depicts him as a screaming baby.

He said Britain was "a pretty hot spot right now with a lot of resignations".

May will host Trump and tuxedo-clad government ministers and representatives of fund managers BlackRock and Blackstone Group, as well as Arup and drinks manufacturer Diageo, for a dinner of Scottish salmon, beef and strawberries and clotted cream ice cream to discuss post-Brexit trade. "This week we have an opportunity to deepen this unique trading relationship and begin discussions about how we will forge a strengthened, ambitious and future-proof trade partnership". "I think they agree with me on immigration", he said, also reminding reporters that his mother was from Scotland, which he plans to visit after his official meetings in England.

"I said "If the President is coming to town I'll call it the Trump Arms", he said.

Speaking at an impromptu press conference after a North Atlantic Treaty Organisation summit in Brussels Trump said the British people shared his concerns on immigration, claiming "that's why Brexit happened".

Parents Allowed to See Rescued Boys: Hospital
The head of the rescue team, Narongsak Osottanakorn, revealed yesterday that the cave will be turned into "a living museum". Thailand's junta leader Prayut Chan-o-cha on Tuesday said the boys were given a "minor tranquiliser" to keep them calm.

Mr Smyth said he hoped the protests, and specifically the Trump baby blimp, do not upset the American public.

"Boris Johnson's a friend of mine, he's been very nice to me, very supportive and maybe I'll speak to him when I get over there".

Most of the protests will take place that day in central London, the USA officials said, with some occurring the days before and after.

A campaign is also underway to get "American Idiot", a 2004 song by the USA punk rock band Green Day, to the top of the UK Singles Chart.

May will seek to put the tensions behind her when she hosts Trump later Thursday for a black-tie dinner with business leaders at Blenheim Palace, the birthplace of World War II prime minister Winston Churchill.

On Friday, demonstrators are expected to gather near Chequers, the Prime Minister's country residence, where May and Trump will hold a working lunch. These will focus on relations with Russian Federation, trade, Brexit and the Middle East.

From there, Trump and his wife Melania are expected to travel to Windsor to meet Queen Elizabeth.
