It was a case of better late than never as Kevin Anderson reached his first Wimbledon final with a heart-stopping 7-6 (6) 6-7 (5) 6-7 (9) 6-4 26-24 win over the sport's perennial marathon man John Isner on Friday. Anderson then took the fourth set 6-4, breaking the Isner serve twice in the set.

However, Isner and Anderson are still battling it out for a place in the final - over five-and-a-half hours after they started play.

Anderson will play again in the final on Sunday - hopefully there, a victor will be decided in four sets or less.

When their semi-final ticked past the five-hour 31-minute mark, it beat the previous mark set by Marin Cilic and Sam Querrey in the third round in 2012. Isner was representing the university of Georgia, while Anderson was at the university of IL.

Kevin Anderson has won the first set of his Wimbledon semifinal against John Isner 7-6 (6).

Kremlin says new gas pipeline to Germany will help stability
He recalled that the Russian side has repeatedly pointed out that "Nord stream - 2" is a purely commercial project. He said he also mentioned tripartite talks [on gas - EU-RF-Ukraine], which they will hold.

Anderson had beaten 20-time Grand Slam champion Roger Federer to reach the semifinal against Isner. However, Melichar and Peschke won the next two games to seal it.

For the first time in 91 years, there will be a South African man in a Wimbledon singles final.

Given the length of this match, it may well prove hard for Djokovic and Nadal to complete their contest on Friday.

Isner then fell behind 0-30 three separate games on his own serve, including facing one break point, before coming back to hold.
