Coast Guard recovers body of man missing from cruise ship

From there, the man was taken to the Olympic Medical Center in Port Angeles where he was pronounced dead, the Coast Guard said.

The Coast Guard said its helicopter crew reported the man was unresponsive when they recovered him and transferred him to local emergency medical personnel on shore.

"We offer our deepest condolences to the family and friends of the victim who were affected by this tragedy", said Capt. M.M. Balding, Sector Puget Sound Commanding Officer in a release.

The passenger went overboard from the 8th floor of the Seven Seas Mariner early Tuesday morning, according to the U.S. Coast Guard.

The Coast Guard is investigating to see whether it was an accident or intentional.

The US Coast (USCG) is now searching for a 73-year-old man who went overboard from a cruise ship returning to Vancouver.

At around 1:30 p.m. on Monday, the Carnival Vista contacted the Coast Guard which reportedly dispatched a MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter from the Coast Guard station in Clearwater, Florida.

The captain of the Seven Seas Mariner confirmed that ship video shows a passenger going overboard from an 8th deck balcony at 4:15 a.m.

At the time the man went overboard, the vessel was in US waters, just north of Cape Flattery, at the northwestern tip of Washington state's Olympic Peninsula.
