With Britain reeling from the U.S. president's unflinching criticism of the prime minister's Brexit plans in an interview with the Sun, Melania Trump was escorted by Philip May on a tour of Royal Hospital Chelsea in London, had a meet and greet with British army veterans and schoolchildren, and enjoyed a game of bowls. Following a glamorous black-tie dinner on Thursday evening, in which she dazzled guests with her stunning yellow caped gown by J Mendel, Melania opted for a more casual look - but not less impressive - for her first London engagement on Friday morning.

She also met Lieutenant Colonel Nicky Mott, hospital CEO Gary Lashko and Chelsea pensioners John Riley, Alan Collins and Marjorie Cole.

She then sat down with three veterans and 10 children for a short group discussion, as part of her "Be Best" campaign, which was rolled out in May and focuses on teaching kindness to children and childhood well-being.

Organizers now say they hope to take the blimp on a "world tour", following Trump on his worldwide diplomatic engagements. Two years ago, Khan first crossed Trump's radar by criticizing his call for a ban on Muslim immigration to the US.

The pair toured the hospital's chapel before joining a small group of elementary schoolchildren and veterans in making red paper poppies, a symbol for remembering and honoring those fallen in war.

LONDON, ENGLAND - JULY 13: First Lady, Melania Trump, tries her hand at bowls as she meets British Army veterans, known as Chelsea Pensioners, at Royal Hospital Chelsea on July 13, 2018 in London, England.

Her 10cm stilettos did not go unnoticed by the accredited media present, who had been advised to wear flat shoes for a game of bowls. She gamely bowled several times on the bowling green, even getting a high five from one of the veterans - known as a Chelsea pensioner - for her efforts.

Trump and May "made for an unlikely pairing".
