Protests gear up to greet Trump on United Kingdom state visit

"I would have done it much differently", Trump said of Brexit negotiations. "That's why I and tens of thousands of others will be out protesting, to stand up to his poisonous politics".

A day after landing a series of broadsides against his British hosts, President Donald Trump declared Friday that his relationship with Prime Minister Theresa May was better than ever in yet another bout of diplomatic whiplash that has come to define the American president's European visit.

"We really have a very good relationship", Trump said.

He added: "We record when we deal with reporters. With a lot of resignations", Trump told a news conference at the North Atlantic Treaty Organisation summit in Brussels.

He added that May should make sure "we don't have any restrictions" on post-Brexit trade, contrasting it with European Union tariffs on cars and restrictions on farm imports.

'I don't think so - not right now, ' White House spokesman Hogan Gidley told DailyMail.com in advance of Trump's joint press conference with British Prime Minister Theresa May. "I didn't criticize the prime minister", Trump falsely claimed. "The trade is a little bit tricky".

Seated alongside the Prime Minister, Mr Trump appeared ready to adopt a more conciliatory tone as he sat down for talks at Chequers in Buckinghamshire.

"I actually told Theresa May how to do it but she didn't agree, she didn't listen to me", Trump added. He further undercut her leadership in his effusive praise of Boris Johnson, a long-time rival who resigned from May's Cabinet this week over her Brexit policy.

Novichok that killed woman came from bottle, police believe
Earlier today military workers seized two emergency vehicles as part of the investigation into the Novichok poisoning. Officers believe the drug came from Russian Federation in an attempt to murder former spy Mr Skripal.

Speaking to the Sun, Trump revealed that he'd been warned about the Trump baby blimp that would be flying above Parliament Square, saying: "I guess when they put out blimps to make me feel unwelcome, no reason for me to go to London".

The prime minister welcomed the Trumps on Thursday for a black tie dinner at Blenheim Palace in Oxfordshire.

"I think he's a great representative for your country", he said.

President Trump recently stated, "I think they like me a lot in the United Kingdom", which is about as accurate as Kanye West saying, "I think Taylor Swift likes me a lot".

He then took a question from Fox News regarding his upcoming meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin. "Let's go to a real network".

While Trump's trip was not the full state visit he was originally promised, he was heralded by military bands on his arrival in the country and at Blenheim, and he is scheduled to take the tea with Queen Elizabeth.

It accused the U.S. president of "publicly undercutting Prime Minister Theresa May", adding: "Coming after his combative performance in Brussels with leaders of the 28 other North Atlantic Treaty Organisation nations, the day amounted to a global disruption tour unlike anything undertaken by any other recent American president".

His bombshell in the printed media can only have left Mrs May deeply apprehensive about what the President might say when standing alongside her in front of the world's TV cameras following their talks at Chequers on Friday.
