The country's space division (Israel Aerospace Industries) and SpaceIL plan to launch an unmanned lunar spacecraft on a SpaceX Falcon 9 from Cape Canaveral in Florida this December.

"This is a small and smart vehicle, said at a press conference, IDO, Antabi of SpaceIL".

December space launch is a joint venture between SpaceIL and state-owned Israel Aerospace Industries.

Israel could become the fourth country that sent a spaceship to the moon after USA, Russia and China.

Lacking the resources of those superpowers, SpaceIL turned to private donors to fund the project.

Damari recalled, "We found a duct and we started to discuss it."All three formed Spaceil and partnered with the state-owned Israel Aerospace Industries, which they believed they could get the very small craft on the moon by 2013.Damari said, "As soon as we went deep into the project and more people joined, we understood its complexity."Although Google ended in March without the award victor, the Israeli team promised to move forward.A key person to hop on the project board was the Israeli billionaire Maurice Cannes born of South Africa, who introduced his project to Spaceill. He said, "I thought it was a good idea", and I asked him - "do you have any money?' "Kahn said, "He did not really think about the financial side", he said that he gave him the initial grant of $ 100,000, which covered a project of 95 million USA dollars in a growing support to the project". Morris Kahn, president of Israeli nonprofit organization SpaceIL said Tuesday.

"I am filled with pride that the first Israeli spacecraft, which is in its final construction and testing phases, will soon be making its way to the moon". "I have experienced numerous challenges in my life, but this was the greatest challenge of all".

Dutchman Tom Dumoulin , last year's Giro champion, suffered a puncture with five kilometres to go and ended the day 53 seconds behind the victor .

He added: "The launch of the first Israeli spacecraft will fill Israel, in its 70th year, with pride. It is a national achievement that will put us on the Globe's space map". Construction began at the IAI MABAT Plant previous year.

"It's a very compact spacecraft", says Anteby. "Apparatus with a diameter of 2 meters and a height of 1.5 m and weighs 600 kg, and landing on the moon he will weigh 180 kg". The fuel it will carry will comprise some 75 percent of its total 600kg weight.

The maximum speed expected to reach is over 10 km per second (36,000 kilometers, or almost 22,370 miles, per hour), the report adds.

According to SpaceIL, once the spacecraft disengages from the launch rocket, it will begin orbiting Earth in continuously larger elliptical orbits.

The spacecraft's journey to the moon will last about two months.

The collected data will be transmitted to IAI control room for the next two days after the landing. With the help of a broad network of volunteers, SpaceIL has already made presentations to about 900,000 children nationwide. The measurements are intended for research conducted at the Weizmann Institute of Science-UCLA. "The State of Israel, which is as of now standing strong in the domain of space in its military action, must utilize assets for the advantage of non-military personnel space, which is an engine of development, innovation, and education all over the world".
