Build-A-Bear are also reminding customers that the store has pay-your-age promotion in place for children during their birthday month.

The whole pay your age deal with Build-A-Bear didn't work out as planned this week for the nationwide company. Kids could pay just a few dollars for stuffed bears, while the fee for adults was capped at $29. Customers would be allowed to pay their current age for any make-your-own furry friend in all stores in the United States, Canada and the United Kingdom.

Officials say the offer is only available Friday at participating Chuck E. Cheese locations.

The CEO of Build-A-Bear Workshop is now bearing the brunt of Thursday's disastrous, worldwide "Pay Your Age Day" promotion.

It wrote in a Facebook post it closed lines at its stores in Canada and the US due to overwhelming crowds and safety concerns. On Wednesday, the retailer wrote on its Facebook page that it was "anticipating potential of long lines and wait times".

In a statement posted on the Build-A-Bear Workshop website, the company admits that the response to the promotion had been "overwhelming".
