4th ODI: Zaman's double ton helps Pakistan crush Zimbabwe by 244 runs

Pakistan bat against Zimbabwe in fourth ODI Records tumble for Pakistan as Fakhar's double ton bolsters highest-ever total of 399
Sidney Guerrero | 20 July, 2018, 20:37

Earlier in the day, Pakistan skipper Sarfaraz Ahmed won the toss and opted to bat in the fourth ODI.

He broke the record of hitting the highest individual score by a Pakistani when he surpassed 194, made by Saeed Anwar against India at Chennai in 1997.

Zaman smashed 24 boundaries and five sixes in a blistering innings and went on to become the sixth global batsman to score a double hundred in the 50-overs format.

Playing only his 17th ODI, Fakhar finished unbeaten on 210 off 156 balls after sharing a world record opening stand with Imam-ul-Haq against Zimbabwe in Bulawayo. This is Pakistan's highest total in an ODI.

Bale set to stay in Madrid after talks with new boss Lopetegui
But it seems the 29-year-old now believes that he is central to Lopetegui's plans for the club, and will be asked to stay. It is also reported that United are not making a move for Chelsea winger, Willian as Bale is our priority.

Pakistan's total of 399 is their highest team score in ODIs, going past the 385 runs they scored against Bangladesh in June 2010.

The 28-year old left-handed batsman, who rose to global fame with a match-winning ton in Champions Trophy 2017 final against India, is the sixth batsman to score a double hundred in ODIs. Pakistan's openers blazed a world record 304-run stand, with Imam-ul-Haq hitting 113, the triple hundred partnership becoming Pakistan's biggest for any wicket in ODIs. It is also the 4th highest partnership for any wicket in ODI. The earlier record stood at 263 runs which Inzamam-ul-Haq and Aamer Sohail forged for the opening wicket in 1994 against New Zealand.

Zaman needs to score 20 more runs to smash Sir Viv Richards' record to become the fastest to 1000 ODI runs.
