"It wasn't like, 'I want to be better than Michael Phelps, ' or anything like that".

Clark Kent Apuda may only be 10 years old, but he is making worldwide headlines for beating one of Michael Phelps's longest standing swimming records earlier this week.

The boy with the name of a superhero has broken one of Phelps' oldest records. "And yes, that was one of my dreams to beat Michael Phelps' record since I was seven".

The boy, nicknamed "Superman", won every event he took part in at the meet and has his eyes set on competing at the Olympic in the coming years.

Swimming at the Far Western Long Course Championships in Moraga, Calif., Apuada finished the 100-meter butterfly in 1:09.38, besting Phelps's 23-year-old, 10-and-under meet record of 1:10.48 by more than a second.

Apuada's time slashed off over a second from Phelps' record, which had gone unbroken even as the competitive swimmer went on to win numerous Olympic medals.

Apuada has only been swimming competitively for four years, but with sky-high dreams and a name to match, he just may be a real-life superhero.

Dia Rianda, Clark's coach, said in the same article: "This kid is unlike any other young man that I've ever coached". He said swimming is his favorite because of all the support from family and coaches.

"He's always stood out". Rogers's 1:05.98 still stands as the 10-and-under US record in the 100 butterfly.

If Superman keeps it up, he could become Team USA next great Olympic swimming sensation.
