So when Kobe decided to make a relatively modest (for him) investment of $6 million in a fledgling sports drink called BodyArmor back in 2014, it was a fairly low-risk endeavor. And now, his investment is paying off in a huge way.

BodyArmor is also backed by Dr Pepper Snapple, now part of Keurig Dr Pepper, which made a $20 million investment in 2015 and boosted its ownership to 15.5 percent in 2016.

Bryant earned himself over $328 million in total salary during his 20-year run with the Lakers organization, and almost $680 million in total when including endorsements.

Coca-Cola just announced it purchased a minority stake in BodyArmor.

PepsiCo dominates the roughly $20 billion U.S. sports and energy drinks market with a 30.7 percent share, according to Euromonitor International, followed by Monster Beverage and Red Bull, while Coca-Cola was in fourth place with a 7 percent share as of 2017. Today, his $6 million investment is now worth $200 million. There was the launching of his production company, Granity Studios.

The 100 star Marie Avgeropoulos was arrested in Los Angeles last week and booked for felony domestic violence, TMZ reports. TMZ says he actually "begged cops not to take her away" and he was the one who 'even bailed her out.

BodyArmor founder Mike Repole also sold Glaceau, the company behind smartwater and vitaminwater, to Coca-Cola in 2007.

Brand expansion has been fueled by new lines - such as BodyArmor SportWater and the low-calorie Body Armor Lyte - and partnerships with high profile athletes like National Basketball Association star James Harden and baseball's Mike Trout.

And now there is this - an investment that has multiplied more than 30 times. James and his business partner Maverick Carter put less than $1 million into fast-casual pizza chain Blaze in 2012. That's a higher percentage, but Bryant will be earning about five times as much money.

This is just another one of Bryant's post-playing days successes.
