Check out T-Mobile's videos about its new Team of Experts initiative.

"Customer service is totally and completely broken, not just in wireless but everywhere in service industries, and the way it is trying to be solved is the wrong way", T-Mobile CEO John Legere said at an Un-carrier event in SC to introduce Team of Experts.

T-Mobile on Wednesday unveiled its latest Un-carrier move: revamping bad customer service.

The telecom said it would connect users straight to a team of customer representatives, unique to their own city, when they call customer service.

Once you have the code, you'll need to redeem it through Pandora before September 3 in order to unlock your free year of service. The carrier is now giving subscribers a free annual subscription to music streamer Pandora and access to special tickets for live shows and concerts produced by Live Nation. It will eliminate the robotic systems that generally start customer service calls, such as "press one for billing". Sievert said most companies today utilize a model focused on "call deflection", that tries to bat customers away.

The teams consist of about 40 people all working near each other. Lines will be open 24/7, and T-Mobile is also taking communication outside of just phone calls: There's also asynchronous messaging in iMessage and the T-Mobile app, so you can send a live chat message, close the app, and come back to it whenever you want.

Customers can either ping their dedicated support staff by phone or text message, and can schedule phone appointments.

Legere said that T-Mobile has consulted on its customer support plans with executives from Sprint, with which T-Mobile is trying to merge in a deal worth about $27 billion.

T-Mobile enlisted actor Rainn Wilson - best known as Dwight from "The Office" - to demonstrate the frustration of working through a robocall, being transferred among departments and ultimately not getting a problem solved while on a generic customer service call. One big reason that most companies nationally pool their call-center resources is because it can help keep wait times to a minimum.

T-Mobile took the stage in Charleston, South Carolina on August 15 to host its latest Un-Carrier Next event.
