JERICHO, West Bank - The United States will not present its long-awaited plan for Israeli-Palestinian peace any time soon and is instead trying to unilaterally change the terms of reference for any future proposal, a senior Palestinian official said on Saturday.

Jerusalem is one of the major issues in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

"There were too many false realities that were created - that people worship - that I think needed to be changed", said Kushner.

The poll's responses track with statements and actions by Palestinian leaders such as Palestinian Authority (PA) President Mahmoud Abbas, who has boycotted the Trump administration since the U.S. announced its recognition of Jerusalem as Israel's capital and subsequently moved its embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem.

Palestinian leaders say Trump's White House is blatantly biased in favor of Israel and is seeking to blackmail them into accepting its terms. The Palestinians claim East Jerusalem - which Israel captured from Jordan in the 1967 Six Day War and later annexed - as the capital of their future state. In an interview with the New York Times published on Friday, Trump's son-in-law and foreign policy adviser Jared Kushner effectively warned the Palestinians to stop biting the hands that feed them.

The administration has also slashed hundreds of millions of dollars in aid to the Palestinian refugee agencies and aid groups.

"The Israeli government, headed by Benjamin Netanyahu, has completely destroyed the Oslo agreement and the dream of the two states, and officially announced its death through its racist and arbitrary steps against the Palestinians that continued over the past years".

Erekat added that the United States has accepted Israel's position on the designation of Jerusalem as Israel's capital, as well as the future status of settlements in the West Bank and the question of Palestinian refugees.

But Trump's Mideast envoy Jason Greenblatt told Reuters in that Washington was prepared for Israeli criticism of the plan and that both sides can expect parts they will like and dislike. It regards all of the city as its eternal and indivisible capital.

"They are telling us "peace based on the truth", Erekat said.

Palestinians have limited self-rule in the West Bank, but Israel controls most of that territory and has expanded its settlements there.

According to a poll published by the Palestinian Center for Policy and Survey Research on Wednesday, 90 percent of Palestinian respondents believe USA bias favors Israel, with just 6 percent deeming the United States an "honest broker".

State Department officials on Monday ordered the office shuttered, in a bid to pressure the Palestinians to enter peace talks with Israel.
