Woodward: I'll release tapes of book interviews if source asks me to

At The Bookloft in Great Barrington on Tuesday Cheri Anderson helps a customer while Tim Oberg gathers the remaining six copies of Bob Woodward's new book all held for customers who had preordered. The 448-page book, touted as an "insider's account" of the White House under Trump's presidency, has a lot of quotes attributed to Trump on various subjects. "Modi wanted to go to Camp David and have dinner, bond with Trump", says Woodward.

The White House released a statement calling the book "fake news" and "nothing more than fabricated stories, many by former disgruntled employees, told to make the President look bad". Media coverage of the book sparked backlash from the White House even before its release, as excerpts were shared indicating that administration staffers "often have to engage in stealthy behavior to prevent Trump from being impulsive and to minimize disasters that could hurt the president and the country" and that White House chief of staff John Kelly is a hothead.

The book sold more than 750,000 copies on its first day of publication and broke Simon & Schuster's preorder sales record. The department has said that the Trump administration still had "serious concerns about the human rights situation in Egypt" and would continue to raise those concerns with senior Egyptian officials.

"The Woodward book is a joke - just another assault against me, in a barrage of assaults, using now disproven unnamed and anonymous sources", is one of President Trump's most recent tweets on the matter.

Hurricane Florence leaves death and destruction in its wake
More than a million people along the coastlines of North Carolina, South Carolina and Virginia have been ordered to evacuate. Florence was a Category 3 hurricane on the five-step Saffir-Simpson scale with 120-mph winds on Thursday.

Bob Woodward committed on Friday to releasing the audiotapes backing the claims made in his book "Fear" if any of his sources request him to. The website further alleges that the author now admits he lied in the book. "I have literally hundreds of hours of tapes with people who were there".

"Misfortune" has dominated political headlines since reviews about it emerged closing week.

Since the information mentioned on America's Last Line of Defense is not real, it means that the news about Bob Woodward lying in his book is untrue. Donald Trump himself has repeatedly lashed out at Woodward as well.

I know, I know: Trump himself is calling Bob Woodward a liar and trashing Fear, and much of the press coverage has been of courageous principled staffers protecting the world from a deranged man in the Oval Office.
