Google unveils new Pixel phone, adds tablet in Apple challenge
13 October, 2018, 09:25
There were absolutely zero surprises today from Google. In the most weird of circumstances (publicity stunt?), every single product today has already been leaked to the press in one way or another. While Microsoft's Surface devices have a solid Windows desktop environment, it lacks the library of touch-friendly apps that Android and iOS offer.
The Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL are the first series of products designed by the team after joining Google. Just watch the video below to get blown away by Google's AI.
Shares of Alphabet barely moved on the announcements.
Google has announced it is now ending access to the service to the wider public. Aptly named as "Molecular Display", Google was able to squeeze such high-resolution display into a relatively thin device by using a power-efficient LCD tech called low-temperature polysilicon (LTPS). For those who follow tech news and hardware rumours, there was little about the Pixel 3's design that you didn't know about. It's not really cutting edge technology, but a feature nonetheless.
Going from a small experiment to a polished product that works in various languages and is backed by large sales, support and technical teams has been part of Google's challenge.
Every major hardware company makes a tablet.
Facebook's United Kingdom tax bill triples to £15.7m
Labour MP Margaret Hodge said it was "absolutely outrageous that Facebook's United Kingdom tax bill is 0.62% of their revenue". Its profits were reduced by £759 million in sales and £444 million in unexplained "administrative expenses".
Senator Richard Blumenthal said the news shows that "to truly end this cycle of broken promises, we need a national privacy framework that protects consumers". It starts at $599, with an additional $200 for the keyboard folio, making the $800 investment look worthwhile for a state-of-the-art gadget.
The Pixel 3 boasts an incredible camera, intelligent machine learning to cut down on busywork, and an even more useful Google assistant. Both phones are announced to have very similar hardware, other than the screen size and battery. Either way, Google has ensured that the old Pixel phones will also get new features. Google's Pixel 2 did it, and pretty well too, using just one camera. A useful feature for when all your mates turn up to see your shiny new smartphone. It's clear that Google is trying its hardest to one-up Apple. Google's AI will find the best picture where no one blinked and is in focus.
If you think you'll use all the features that the Pixel 3 has, like its camera functions and AI-driven tools then it's definitely worth getting. If the photo you took when you pressed the shutter button has something "wrong" with it, like someone blinking or last-second movement, Top Shot will recommend a photo that looks better. Google launch many products but Pixel 3 phones, new tablet Pixel Slate and smart home device Google Home Slate caught more attention. Google Pixel have improved the camera quality like never before. These Duplex features are definitely United States only (for now at least) coming to the Pixel 3 first, with the Pixel 1 and 2 getting access in November. At that point, you can fit yourself, your friends, and/or a scenic backdrop into the scene. This is even the same amount as the original Google Pixel 1 phone that released in 2016.
Zeigler's attorney, Rob Morad says his client was over-charged: "Obviously he's been sorry ever since this obviously happened". He was then asked what, if anything, he would have done differently. "I knew which direction I had to go", he said.
Unfortunately, until today, it's only been available for a select group of users, given that it's required a beta invite to play. As long as you have a compatible device, you can download the game and start playing immediately.
