Billy Joe Saunders in foul-mouthed rant after being denied a license

Billy Joe Saunders to give up WBO title to challenge licence decision Billy Joe Saunders surrenders world title amid plans to sue over licence decision

Billy Joe Saunders launched a foul-mouthed rant at the Massachusetts State Athletic Commission on Tuesday night after being denied a boxing licence following his positive drugs test. Saunders told the hearing via speaker phone to "suck my p****' after the verdict ruled him out of his WBO middleweight title defence against Dimitrius Andrade in Boston on October 20".

Oxilofrine is only banned by the World Anti-Doping Agency (Wada) for in-competition tests, but while the MSAC rules says they follow Wada, they took the advice of the Voluntary Anti-Doping Association (Vada), who do not differentiate between in and out of competition testing.

Andrade will now face Walter Kautondokwa, the WBO's No 2 -ranked middleweight, for the vacant title.

Saunders and Andrade contracted with VADA to oversee a testing program for their fight.

Oxilofrine is on VADA's list of banned substances 365 days per year, yet only against WADA and UK Anti-Doping regulations on the day of a fight. WADA, as mandated by the British Boxing Board of Control. VADA prohibits it at all times.

"Because of the mental anguish brought about by this case and out of respect for the WBO, Billy Joe will with a heavy heart relinquish his world title, whilst this issue is in the process of being resolved". The substance they found in their test is prohibited by them, but under WADA it is allowed out of competition, which is set up until the day before the fight. Andrade, 20, will now fight for the vacant crown on October 20 against Namibia's 33-year-old unbeaten Walter Kautondokwa, 17-0 with 16 knockouts entering his first fight outside Africa and first world title bout. "The MSAC, in their decision to deny a license to Billy Joe, have wilfully refused to properly apply the code of WADA to their ruling".

"Unlike the British Boxing Board of Control, the MSAC is a state appointed governing body and therefore the decision will be appealed and challenged in the superior court at the earliest opportunity". After the sample from Saunders (26-0, 12 KOs), 29, a 2008 Olympian, came back positive, he said it was because he used "a common decongestant nasal spray".

When Kautondokwa got the call about possibly taking on Andrade, he had already been training even though a fight wasn't on the horizon.

"From a business perspective I see where they are at, but it's not fair on Billy Joe Saunders that he has defended his title three or four times and he's in this position".
