U.S. secretary of state to travel to Turkey on Wednesday - State Department Donald Trump Tweets Support Of Saudi Prince Denial He Ordered Jamal Khashoggi Killed

The comments marked a break from the Trump administration's strenuous refusal to speculate over what happened to Khashoggi and came as the U.S. president is under growing pressure to take action on the case of the Saudi writer, who was a contributor to The Washington Post and wrote columns critical of Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman.

Meanwhile, Arabic channel Al-Jazeera quotes Turkey's attorney-general's office as saying it has found evidence to back claims that Mr Khashoggi was killed inside the mission.

"Just spoke with the Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia who totally denied any knowledge of what took place in their Turkish Consulate", Trump tweeted.

Turkish officials say they fear that Khashoggi, a prominent Saudi journalist who had been in living self-imposed exile in the United States, was killed and dismembered after he entered the consulate. The statement would pin blame on intelligence officials rather than Saudi leaders, alleging that an interrogation attempt had gone wrong and Khashoggi, who is a USA resident and an opinion writer at the Washington Post, was killed without authorization.

Otaibi left Istanbul on Tuesday for Riyadh ahead of a planned search of his residence as part of the official Turkish investigation into Khashoggi's disappearance.

Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi was tortured before being decapitated inside Riyadh's consulate in Istanbul, pro-government daily Yeni Safak reported on Wednesday, saying it heard audio recordings.

He said that Cohen was nothing more than "a PR person who did small legal work", and said it was "very sad" that Cohen had struck a deal to "achieve a lighter sentence".

In an interview with Fox News, a prominent Trump ally in the Senate called on Saudi Arabia to reject the crown prince, known as MBS, who rose to power a year ago and has aggressively sought to soften the kingdom's image overseas and attract foreign investment.

Reuters reports that Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu has said Pompeo would bring information about Khashoggi's disappearance to Ankara.

Secretary of State Mike Pompeo has arrived in Turkey amid a growing diplomatic crisis over the disappearance there earlier this month of dissident Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi.

Pompeo's emergency meeting comes after Middle East Eye revealed new details of Khashoggi's murder inside the Saudi consulate in Istanbul on Monday evening.

Turkish investigative agencies have said that he was brutally killed inside the consulate.

"We have said before that Saudi Arabia must cooperate with us in every aspect without delay". "No matter how good a lie sounds, I don't think people can accept it when they know it's a lie".

According to Mr Trump, King Salman denied "any knowledge of whatever may have happened "to our Saudi Arabian citizen".

Tubaigy reportedly listened to music while Khashoggi was killed and dismembered.

CNN said the Saudis may argue the operation was conducted without clearance and those responsible would be held accountable. President Trump is also correct when he says thousands of United States jobs would be lost, with China and Russian Federation to be among those lining up to replace them.

Earlier on Tuesday, Trump said that "I have no financial interests in Saudi Arabia" - but in fact he has boasted in the past that "I make a lot of money with them".
