"In fact, more than half of these abusive experiences are not blocked by our current set of protections, and almost all involve harmful or misleading ads", writes Google product manager Vivek Sekhar.

Auto Redirect - Ads or page elements that auto-redirect the page without user action. "Some of these abusive ad experiences are used by scammers and phishing schemes to steal personal information", he said.

Abusive content on a site might lead to unexpected results; a click on a "watch video" link should not result in the automatic download of an APK file for Android or the download of another file, and clicking on a close button should not spawn new popup ads on the screen. Google already has rules against such ads but some sites and makers just aren't listening. This is Google's new attempt to reducing intrusive and misleading ads on the Internet that often lead to malicious websites and steal personal information as well.

An upcoming version of the browser will block *ALL a href="http://mashable.com/reels/google-pixel-3-pixel-3-xl-review?utm_cid=a-seealso" *Should You Buy Google's New Pixel Phones?

The Chrome 71 "update" isn't actually something new. "Addressing these abusive experiences are also up to the site owner, who may not always be motivated to address these misleading ads".

We want the focus to be on a great game of football, free from anything else. "We need to cool the situation down. They are one of the main contenders to win the Champions League; the team is made to attack for the title.

The only change is that Google will apply its filtering for misbehaving sites a lot stricter than before. "Site owners can use the Abusive Experiences Report in their Google Search Console to see if their site contains any of these abusive experiences that need to be corrected or removed", Google's Vivek Sekhar said, "Site owners will have a 30 day window to fix experiences flagged by the Report before Chrome removes ads".

After putting those initial protections in place, Google learned that they didn't go far enough and that "more than half" of abusive experiences were not blocked.

Google introduced an Abusive Experiences reporting tool in January for website owners to see if users have reported deceptive interaction on their sites, in the hope offending publishers will clean up their online properties.

Chrome users may disable the browser's ad-blocking component by adding sites to the list of allowed sites or by allowing ads.
