Fossil has launched a smartwatch with a Qualcomm Snapdragon Wear 3100, making it the first wearable to come to market with that new chip.

Compared to nearly all of Fossil's previous Wear OS efforts, the aptly named Sport is focused less on traditional style and more on modern functionality. According to Fossil, the Sport will last a full day in full smartwatch mode and then an additional two days in a low-power, time-telling only mode.

EU Brexit envoy says ‘much more work’ needed to clinch deal
The main sticking point is the border between European Union member Ireland and the British-ruled province of Northern Ireland. Irish Prime Minister Leo Varadkar also said today that as the days went by a summit in November was getting less likely.

There's also a good reason why the Fossil Sport is 55 bucks pricier than the Fitbit Versa. The fitness-oriented Wear OS device will run the latest version of Wear OS with a revamped fitness and navigation UI. Additionally, the Fossil Sport also features a new battery-saving mode; enhanced ambient mode; and integrated heart rate, NFC and Global Positioning System capabilities. The recently announced Wear OS Spotify app will also, Fossil says, be pre-loaded onto the watch for use straight out of the box as will personal safety app Noonlight.

If you're feeling impatient, you can get your hands on the watch through Fossil's website starting today. At least on paper, this represents a feature-packed smartwatch with a bonus of extended battery life - all for a price that sensibly undercuts competitors like Apple and Samsung. There are also two sizes 41mm and 43mm with 18mm or 22mm bands, respectively, and the watch cases are made of aluminum and nylon which keeps the weight down.
