Fallout 76 Customer Data May Have Been Leaked Inadvertently By Bethesda Support

Fallout 76 Glitch in Bethesda Support System Accidentally Gives Users Access to Other Customer Info

Mostly it's your receipts for you power armor set requesting a new bag.

As you might imagine, players will not be able to log into or play Fallout 76 during downtime.

In an unexpected move, users submitting tickets to Bethesda's website were given access to the support system.

According to Bethesda's dev team, the update is meant to "address a service issue", but whilst the game is planned to be down for just two hours, it could very well take longer. Just a couple of days ago, Bethesda announced that they would be manufacturing replacement canvas bags, as originally advertised. It's now unknown exactly how many people were able to access Bethesda's Support system during the brief window where it was accessible, but suffice to say that anyone who has submitted a Fallout 76 support ticket recently should keep a wary eye on their credit card activity in case their details ended up in unscrupulous hands.

On Tuesday, however, user reports began circulating with an ominous allegation: that anyone who filed a support ticket at Bethesda's site was receiving a lot of replies to their threads.

I went on the support website today to update a ticket of mine, and surprisingly (or not.) I ended up being able to see all sorts of tickets, with people putting their personal information in them, like receipt screenshots, names, addresses, and so on.

After submitting the tickets, however, the information was passed on to other users thanks to a technical error.

The information leaked reportedly included names, email addresses and other contact details. To make matters worse, data breach notification laws require companies that have experienced a data breach to notify anyone who might have been affected; something Bethesda hasn't done.
