Fury anxious Wilder is 'running' away from a rematch

Deontay Wilder knocks down Tyson Fury during the WBC heavyweight world title fight Deontay Wilder knocks down Tyson Fury during the WBC heavyweight world title fight

Both men left the boxing world in awe after one of the most incredible title fights in recent memory, withFury somehow recovering from what appeared to be a devastating knockout blow.

"I've got a amusing feeling he's going to get his running shoes out and stay away from me at all costs", he told Britain's ITV network. Fury rose dramatically and continued to fight until the final bell to cap an effort that will go down as one of the greatest comeback stories in all of sports.

If Wilder's explosive power already posed a significant threat, the biggest question surrounding Fury's chances was whether he had truly recovered from that period, in which he admitted to taking cocaine, becoming suicidal and lived to such excess he reached an estimated 27 stone.

Wilder's trainer Jay Deas said his fighter is desperate for a rematch.

"They said it was going to be a boring fight". The guy who gave it 115-111 to Wilder had me losing the first six rounds and I don't know what he was watching. Deontay has never had a problem with travelling.

A date is expected to be agreed in the near future with both Las Vegas and London mooted as potential host cities, though Fury's promoter - veteran Frank Warren - insists his charge will fight Wilder again anywhere, anytime.

And speaking to Good Morning Britain, Fury said it was the motivation he needed to get back onto his feet.

However, rather than the rematch the boxing world would undoubtedly love to see, Wilder's team have indicated they have a heavyweight unification bout with Anthony Joshua in their sights.

Negotiations for a fight between Wilder and Joshua broke down earlier this year, but Finkel is willing to go ahead provided that talks with Matchroom Boxing boss Eddie Hearn remain private.

Joshua, the IBF, WBA and WBO champion posted on Twitter.

We're very interested in the fight, Finkel exclusively told Sky Sports. The country wants it, I want it, everybody wants it.

He added: "If everything is in the paper, I have no desire to discuss anything and let him go fight who he wants".

Joshua last fought in September, when he successfully defended his belts by stopping Alexander Povetkin in seven rounds at Wembley.
