A pharmaceutical company has issued a recall for three lots of infant ibuprofen distributed to stores nationwide.

There's a "remote possibility" that the drug could cause permanent kidney damage in infants, the company warned.

If infants ingest too much ibuprofen, they can suffer from nausea, vomiting, gastric pain or diarrhea. Tinnitus, headache and gastrointestinal bleeding are also possible adverse effects.

CVS offers it under the "CVS Health" label, with the recalled products bearing the NCD number 59779-925-23 and the lot number 00717024A. The recalled lots are sold in Walmart, CVS and Family Dollar.

According to the label, the ibuprofen - meant to be used as a pain reliever or fever reducer - contained 50 mg per 1.25 mL. And in Family Dollar, the recalled lot is 00717024A (expiry 08/19).
