The US actor will play Mysterio in Spider-Man: Far From Home, which will see British star Tom Holland reprise his role as the web-swinging superhero.

The actor officially joined Instagram on Wednesday and revealed he will be starring in the Spider-Man sequel. The actor posted the video with the caption: "I just realized I'm not playing Spider-Man" and caused a frenzy.

This marks the first time that anyone involved with Far From Home has confirmed Mysterio's inclusion in the film.

"And there is a sense of the scenes, with the casting in particular and also the storytelling, that you feel that you're actually in a movie with human beings in it".

The character was introduced in The Amazing Spider-Man #13 back in June 1964.

Massive outage at O2 affects 32m customers
Transport for London's live bus timetables rely upon the O2 network. O2 customers are experiencing problems this morning with data. It said other operators across the world were also affected.

In October, it seemed clear these talks went well, after people shared footage on social media of what appeared to be the actor shooting scenes in Czech Republic in Mysterio's trademark attire.

Mysterio is a special effects expert who commits crimes and fights Spider-Man using elaborate illusions, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The main characters from Homecoming will all return, with Tom Holland of course reprising his role as Peter Parker/Spider-Man, Zendaya returning as Michelle Jones, and Jacob Batalon returning as Ned, while Marissa Tomei will also return as May Parker.

We already know that in Marvel's timeline, Far From Home starts just minutes after Avengers 4 ends.
