Technically it's not the first time a Far Cry game has had a post-apocalyptic setting though, but the tone of the trailer doesn't seem at all similar to the '80s parody that was Blood Dragon.

The teaser also suggests we'll be playing with a few unconventional weapons.

Tune into the Game Awards for the world premiere of the next Far Cry. Clutching what looks like a make-shift, saw-slinging crossbow, the sullen protagonist appears to be roaming around an incredibly cheery and picturesque post-apocalyptic landscape. One thing we weren't expecting was the announcement of a new Far Cry, which the teaser trailer below may just be hinting towards (but probably isn't).

Plus, it's not hard to imagine an ending to Far Cry 5 where the Elder's Gate cult get their hands on a nuclear bomb, and do the unthinkable. Ubisoft call it "a new Far Cry game" but it's not yet clear whether it will be a direct sequel, a spin-off, or what. The brief teaser trailer begins with a shot of a mushroom cloud extending into the air, seen from a short distance away. I suppose we won't have to wait too long to find out! Ubisoft has confirmed that more will be revealed at The Game Awards, which takes place on December 6in the U.S and painfully early on December 7in Europe.
