Mrs Macdonald, who said her son-in-law was at RAF Akrotiri in Cyprus while her daughter was in Afghanistan, added: "Kate was asking Harry where his mummy and daddy were and she said to me it's quite a commitment but it was great for the family to have us pulling everything together".

While Meghan Markle and Prince Harry made a decision to sit this holiday party out, we're confident that Duchess Kate can control the royal style reins just fine, crop top and all.

The Duchess of Cambridge, 36, donned a £666 green blazer by Canadian brand Smythe for the visit on Wednesday, along with a pair of £130 navy wide-legged pants from Jigsaw.

Kate and Prince William traveled on Wednesday to Cyprus where they helped spread holiday cheer, meeting with military personnel and families living at the base.

Squadron leader Sarah Waghorn, a senior engineering officer with 11 Squadron, was one of those to get presents from home from Prince William.

While the royals celebrated the new spot, William advised the men to "keep the pizza off the sofas!" Emily Nash reported that Kate promised a "little girl [that] she would come back in a pink dress and crown".

Kate seemed to be channeling her sister-in-law's style as she arrived in Cyprus wearing wide-legged pants, left.

Jokic downs Raptors as Nuggets continue to impress

She accessorised with pearl earrings and the Cambridge Lover's Knot tiara, which previously belonged to her late mother-in-law Princess Diana, and proudly wore the yellow ribbon of the Queen's Order pinned to her chest.

"When William served in the Falklands or went search and rescue, I remember how it felt".

She said: "But I can't imagine how it feels when your loved ones are away on active service over Christmas or at those special family moments".

"The absence of people you love must be especially hard at this time of year", Kate continued.

Sqn Ldr Waghorn, 34, whose 80-year-old father David Waghorn had met the royals at their Christmas Party, said: "They said their parcel service "really was royal mail".

Speaking in front of a crowd of RAF personnel and soldiers from the 2 Mercian Regiment, Prince William said: "As we approach Christmas, Catherine and I feel strongly that praise for your work and recognition of your sacrifices is exactly what is due to you all".
