Obsidian's new RPG called Outer Worlds, set in new IP

The Outer Worlds The Makers Of FALLOUT: NEW VEGAS Are Taking Us To THE OUTER WORLDS

Just as those trademarks earlier this year suggested, it's called The Outer Worlds.

For the unaware, this game is being developed by the same folks who created Fallout: New Vegas, as well as Fallout 1 & 2 (in other words, all the non-Bethesda Fallouts).

Role-playing fans will recognise that the developers at work here have some considerable experience in the genre, as Obsidian made Fallout: New Vegas and The Outer Worlds is being led by Fallout co-creator Tim Cain and original artist Leonard Boyarsky.

The game is published by Private Division, a new label started by Take-Two (the company that owns 2K and Rockstar) to make medium-budget games. Single-player! RPG mechanics! Guns! You'll be able to determine what role you play in everything, and your actions will have a direct impact on the story.

Lost in transit while on a colonist ship bound for the furthest edge of the galaxy, you awake decades later only to find yourself in the midst of a deep conspiracy threatening to destroy the Halcyon colony. In the corporate equation for the colony, you are the unplanned variable. Exploring the far reaches of space, you'll encounter different factions, all of which are competing for power.

One of The Outer Worlds' more unique features is its "Flaws" system.

The Outer Worlds debuted in a trailer at the Game Awards tonight, a week after Obsidian teased its new project.
