The 24-year-old rap star took to his social media to announce has officially quit music.

The rapper announced his retirement on Instagram on Friday.

Fans were expecting Uzi to drop his sophomore studio album, Eternal Atake, sometime in 2019, especially after he teased the project back in December. "I wanna wake up in 2013".

Lil Uzi Vert is, without doubt, one of the top young rap artists of his era and has notched a number of smash hit singles over the past three years while amassing a loyal fan base.

He added, "You are free".

However, there is a new character that appeared in the reveal trailer beside a giant hourglass. Mortal Kombat 11 will be launching for PS4, Xbox One, PC, and Switch on April 23, 2019.

Uzi could be trolling fans to promote the album, but the Philly rapper has not been shy about voicing his displeasure with DJ Drama and Don Cannon's record label, Generation Now.

The Philadelphia rapper signed to Atlantic in 2014, having self-released two projects earlier.

However, if he truly has "deleted everything", Eternal Atake may never come to be - and we'll also miss out on the reported 1,500 recordings Uzi has made with Young Thug alone.

Lil Uzi also got a solo Grammy nod past year for Best New Artist, losing out to Alessia Cara. With the Atlantic machine behind him, Uzi was catapulted from local legend to national fame with his Luv is Rage mixtape and subsequent "Lil Uzi Vert vs".
