Kelowna flights impacted by grounding of Boeing 737 MAX 8 planes

Boeing Has Grounded All Boeing 737 Max Planes Worldwide Over Safety Fears Boeing Grounds Entire Fleet Of 737 Max Planes After New Crash Evidence Emerges

The 737 MAX has been banned from flying in most countries after an Ethiopian Airlines crash this week that killed all 157 people on board was found to have had similar characteristics to the crash of a Lion Air flight in October.

Flight recorders from a doomed Ethiopian Airlines flight arrived in France for analysis Thursday as frustrated relatives of the people killed stormed out of a meeting with airline officials in Addis Ababa.

Boeing Co revealed it has paused deliveries of its 737 MAX jetliner after the United States and other countries grounded them earlier this week.

The Jakarta-based airliner now operates 10 Max 8 jets, which it obtained as part of the costly $22 billion deal it made with Boeing in 2011.

Askhara said his airline had made a decision to reduce the order from 49 "before the crashes".

He told Reuters in February that the carrier wanted to swap some of its order for MAX 8s for widebody Boeing models.

The report is due later this year, and follows a draft report that pointed to issues with Boeing's anti-stall system, as well as the airline's training and maintenance.

The latest crash intensified scrutiny on the planes and their safety record.

Ethiopian Airlines said earlier it would send the two cockpit voice and data recorders overseas for analysis.

The plane was less than four months old when it went down just six minutes into its flight to Nairobi.

It is not yet clear which problems Captain Getachew experienced, but French investigators pledged to find answers as they took charge of the aircraft's black boxes.

This is a new type of aircraft with a new black box, with new software.

On Wednesday, both Canada and the USA. announced the aircraft would be temporarily grounded in North America, citing concerns stemming from a deadly plane crash in Ethiopia on Sunday that killed 157 people, including 18 Canadians.

"We are in the process of reconfiguring our schedule to remove all 737 Max 8 flights and move guests to other aircraft", WestJet spokeswoman Lauren Stewart said.

Bears to sign Clinton-Dix to 1-year deal
Earlier Thursday, though, senior vice president Doug Williams was asked whether the door was open for his return. The Bears made a move to replace Adrian Amos , signing safety Ha Ha Clinton-Dix to a one-year deal.

The move came after a growing number of airlines and countries had already decided not to fly the planes or ban them from their airspace until it was ascertained there are no safety issues.

Hours later, Germany's federal bureau of aircraft accident investigation, FBU, said it will not analyze the black box from the Ethiopian Airlines passenger jet.

We are working closely with our airline partners to determine the impacts at YLW.

It could also look at Grant County International Airport in central Washington, where Boeing regularly tests aircraft.

The FAA's directive on Monday said that Boeing is updating the maneuvering system software, meaning that the system still poses potential flight risks.

The cause of the Lion Air crash is still being investigated.

The FAA said on Wednesday a software upgrade being worked on following the Lion Air crash would take months to complete.

France's air accident investigation agency BEA will analyse black-box flight recorders from a Boeing 737 MAX 8 which crashed near Addis Ababa on Sunday, a spokesman said.

One said the flight crew reviewed the incident "at length. but can't think of any reason the aircraft would pitch nose-down so aggressively".

It was unclear if USA transport authorities review the database or investigate the incidents.

In addition to Lion Air's alleged split from Boeing, several other companies are reconsidering their own ties with the American company.

Before Sunday's disaster, more than 370 jets of the model were in operation.

BEA said any information about the investigation would come from Ethiopian Airlines, which itself tweeted that it would only communicate through social media and its website. He said the FAA has 'always been a very cooperative, data-driven group, and now that seems to have kind of gone to the wayside'.

"The fact the system was fighting the pilot was not an unintended effect", because it should counteract a pilot error and correcting this is "challenging".
