Several of Anning's supporters intervened tackled the boy to the ground while the Senator slipped out a side door.

Anning quickly turned around and slapped the individual, who reportedly turned out to be a 17-year-old.

In a statement Anning blamed Muslims - who were the target of the attack - and immigration for the sickening attack.

49 people are confirmed dead after at least one gunman opened fire during Friday prayers at two mosques in Christchurch, New Zealand.

This is not the first time Anning - who took office in 2017 after the previous senator was removed over a technicality with his citizenship - has opposed Muslims.

Former Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull was even more pointed, according to the Washington Post, calling Anning a "disgrace to the Senate".

An Australian senator had a raw egg cracked over his head and faces censure from his fellow lawmakers after sparking outrage by blaming Muslim immigration for the New Zealand mosque shootings.

The final, to be staged at Atletico Madrid's Wanda Metropolitano, will be held on June 1. The 30-year-old added: 'I'm pretty sure we want to make up for it as soon as possible.

"These comments are appalling and ugly and have no place in Australia and he should be frankly ashamed of himself. These views have no place in Australia, let alone in the Australian Parliament".

Earlier, shadow foreign affairs minister Penny Wong condemned Mr Anning's comments as "shameful and pathetic" and said she was " anxious by the rise in extremist views".

British journalist Piers Morgan also lashed Senator Anning, saying he felt "blind fury" at the remarks.

This is an official press release from an elected senator in Australia.

The former Australian prime minister Malcolm Turnbull wrote: "Fraser Anning's comments today are contemptible".

"I can not dream what world a politician or any Australian is seeing by blaming their victims and the faces of those being murdered".

Mohamed Azmin therefore called on all Malaysians and all right-minded people to condemn in no uncertain terms the Senator and his remarks.
